Cole Laughing at Balloon

We have this balloon still floating around from Jack's birthday almost 2 months ago, and Jack and Grandpa Wayne starting hitting it to make a loud clapping noise, and Cole started cracking up. I have never seen him laugh so hard. He literally could not keep his eyes open. Looked just like his daddy.

Mover Dave

Jack loves Imagination Movers. Its a show on Disney where they help people solve problems. He is always saying that we have a problem, and let's brainstorm, and whenever the doorbell rings he thinks we have a customer. Well, yesterday he decided that his John Deere hat backwards made him look like mover Dave. That and a little strawberry pop on the top lip and he was ready for some pictures of himself after I got done taking some of Cole.

6 Months

Half a year old already. This little man makes us smile all day long. He is loved by his big brother who is really trying to play with him now and show him how things are done. Several milestones have happened this month. He just seems to have gone from a baby to a real person all of the sudden. At his 6 month check-up today we found out he has bronchiolitis and needs to keep doing breathing treatments 3 times a day. But developmentally he is doing just great and actually ahead when it comes to gross motor skills.

6 month stats: 17lbs. 4 oz. 27 inches long

Things to remember at 6 months are:

*How he no longer takes the pacifier and sucks his thumb all the time!

*Sits up by himself.

*Flips over in bed when he wakes up.
*Is getting his knees under himself and looks like he ready to start scooting (any day now).

*Still loves his jumparoo!

*Rides without screaming in the car.

*How he loves to grab and play with toys.

*Even though he was sick with fever and cough, still acted so happy.

First Valentine's Day!

I found this picture of Jack on his first Valentine's Day in the same shirt that Cole wore for his first Valentine's Day. Jack was 6 weeks old, and Cole was 5 1/2 months. Where does the time go?

Relaxing Sunday Morning

Unfortunately, my boys are still under the weather and wouldn't be able to go to sunday school so we are home this morning. It's always nice to have a morning with nothing to do while daddy is home. Cole is napping, and Jack, daddy and I are in the kitchen. I am trying out a new Giadda recipe - Orecchitte pasta with mini chicken meatballs! Can't wait to taste it, and Jack is also making recipes. All this with a little Hillsong United going in the background.

Back to Jack's recipe....the aroma that is exuding from that part of the kitchen is affecting our abilities to function. All you all know, Chris has a stomach made of steal, and he has already gagged 2 times. I believe it's the combination of strawberry nestle quik, lemon pepper, italian seasonings, a pound of salt, flour, seasoning salt, jiffy blueberry mix, and jiffy fudge brownie mix from 1984. His recipe is now safely resting in the refrigerator. Let's hope the rest of the food isn't spoiled!!! He will have a lucky little wife someday to share his wonderful recipes with.

Poor Cole doing his breathing treatment. (and yes that is a breast shield from my pump, all we had was the regular mouth piece so grandma Vicki fashioned her own mask) He did so well, and didn't cry at all.

Sick Boys

My poor babies are sick today. They have had little colds for a couple of days, and yesterday Jack had a low grade fever and started coughing. Then this morning Cole started coughing a little. I hope they feel better soon. I just know how awful I feel when I am sick, and I can't imagine how they fell. But even though he isn't feeling well, Jack keeps going around asking Cole how his morning is! Cole is busy jumping in his jump a roo.

Creative

As a mom I often have find very creative ways to do things: get Jack to eat certain foods, get him to brush his teeth, keep Cole quiet in the car, stay awake for more than 5 minutes after the kids are in bed, adjust recipes to what we actually have available, have lots of fun for very little money...you get the idea. I decided to make Valentine's with Jack today. We had about 30 minutes before it was his naptime so we grabbed some red (actually more orange from fading) construction paper, white cardstock, black and red and pink markers, and then we began to hunt for some Elmer's glue. Now dad (grandpa Wayne) used to always have glue out in the garage. Apparently, not anymore. And there was no glitter to be had. So instead we used egg whites and red sugar sprinkles. Very organic I thought!!! :) Here are Jack's creations.

Really...an earthquake????

Jack and Cole, 2 nights ago, you both experienced something that Jack you have experienced once before, and Cole never before. An earthquake. At about 3:57am on February 10, 2010 your daddy and I woke up to to lots of clanging from armoire doors and realized that out in here in the middle of boring old Illinois we were having an earthquake. Thankfully you both slept right through it, as you did 2 years ago Jack. It only makes me think of the end times. In the bible it talks about in the last days there will be earthquakes, famines and fearful events...nations will rise up against each other. I know generation after generation thinks that they will see Jesus come, but all I can do is hope and pray that I raise you boys to love Jesus so that when the end times do come, you will get to see him in all his glory.

It's Friday, It's Friday!

It's been a long week to say the least. Both boys have had little colds, and just not been themselves. Jack has been waking up anywhere from 4:30-5:15 this week, and Cole has been up several times in the night most nights. But when I look back at the week, all I see is my precious boys still changing and growing and saying funny things. Cole has taken to his thumb this week. Jack has been quite the momma's boy. We are looking forward to a low key, relaxing Valentine's weekend.

Grateful

I am so grateful for my wonderful boys! All 3 of them. Daddy is gone to a conference and we miss him dearly.

Potty Trained!

It's official, I think, Jack is potty trained. He has woken up the past 2 mornings dry in his diaper, so last night I decided to put him to bed in underwear. He woke up dry! I am so proud of my big boy. It only took 6 days. I am also really glad not to have to buy diapers anymore for him. My favorite part is now when he goes potty, he gets off and before I can tell him I am proud of him, he looks at me and says "I so proud of you mommy!" It is adorable.

Potty Training - Day 3

Another successful day under our belt. As soon as Jack woke up this morning I changed him into big boy underwear, but he didn't want to go potty yet, instead he wanted to play in the sink...bad idea!!! As soon as he turned the water on, he had an accident, but he told me he was going, it was just too late. So I really wasn't sure what kind of day we would have, but it was awesome. The rest of the day Jack told me when he needed to go and headed to the bathroom, and he even went poop once. No other accidents. We even went in the van to Aunt Meggie's house and didn't have any accidents. I am so pround again. Grandma Vicki brought home new underwear for him...Cars! He likes having Mater and McQueen on his bootie. Maybe tomorrow we will try for no diaper at nap time, since he woke up almost completely dry today from his nap (and that was a 3 1/2 hour nap).
