Back at it...finally!

May 16th I am doing a 10K run with some girls from my small group. I have done 2 5K runs, and a girlfriend convinced me to do this. I am pretty excited about it since I have lost all my Cole baby weight, and am almost back down to my pre-Jack weight. I thought this would be good goal to help me continue working out and getting in shape. Well, I was doing pretty well, running with both boys in the double BOB. Thank goodness for my bob, or I don't think I could run with both kids, which would mean no running for me. About 3 weeks ago, actually it was Easter weekend, I did a 4 mile run. Felt good, and thought I can surely do 6.2 by mid-May. Well, that happened to be my last run until today. I was getting a little nervous. But we are in KC this week and Chris isn't going into work everyday which means....I got to go run without the kids this morning. I did 2.6 today. Of course we are in MO so my favorite thing here....HILLS! BUT, I did it. I am hoping to get in a 5 miler while down here.

It's Melting...????

A banana sounded really good yesterday afternoon for a snack. So as I grabbed one for myself, Jack voiced that he would like one as well. I offered to share mine, but of course, he wanted one all to himself. Well over the course of the next 15 minutes, I ate mine, and Jack held his for awhile. We then started playing with Cole, Jack was running around and the banana....well, completely forgotten about. Shortly, Jack sees it laying on the floor, with no peel on it, and says "it's yucky mommy." I told him to go throw it away as it was a bit mangled looking. As he picked it up and tried to carry it to the garbage, the bottom half of it dropped on the floor cause it was already a bit too mushy (probably from his stepping on it at some point) and he yells "I can't, IT'S MELTING!"

On his behalf, it did look like it was melting. But that was a phrase I have never heard associated with a banana. :)

8 Months

Seriously, where has the time gone? So much has happened this last month for Cole, especially this last week. Cole has been so much fun this last month. He and Jack do well together for the most part. Jack can either make his laugh hysterically, or get him crying pretty fast. We've been working on that. Cole has all of the sudden wanted to do what everyone else is doing, and eat what everyone else is eating. He has finally stopped gagging when I give him real food, so he is enjoying crackers, puffs, yogurt bites, granola bars, and even ate some chicken last week. He does so well to get stuff to his mouth from his tray. Our days of limited mobility are soon coming to an end. Cole is rolling and scooting backwards all the time. He finds himself stuck under ottomans, squished into toys bins, you name it and he'll back himself in there. Also, for about the last week and half he has been up rocking on all 4's. Any day now he is just going to take off and start crawling. And not to mention, he got his first 2 teeth. The first one came in 2 days ago (bottom right) and the second one came in today. So far biting has been a problem while nursing him, fingers crossed it will continue not to be a problem.

Things to remember at 8 months are:
*How he rocks on all 4, then his back little legs just leap like a frog either forward or backwards both at the same time.
*How he loves Praise Baby, and it is the only thing to really soothe him when he is having one of those days.
*How his little hands get going crazy when he gets anxious about eating or is tired.
*How he loves any and all jewelry he can get into his mouth.
*How he is really close to sitting up from a laying down position by himself. He gets in the right position, but his arm is usually too far out to get him all the way up.
*How he scoots backwards.
*He got his first 2 teeth right at 8 months.

Sick Baby

Poor Jack woke up this morning with 102.3 fever. I gave him tylenol, and that helped. He seemed more his normal self after about an hour, then shortly after we got back from the post office, he came up to the living room and said he wanted Tylenol cause he didn't feel good. I felt of him, and he was burning up. So we took his temp again and it was 103.6! I called the Dr. beacause friday morning we found a tick on his head, and didn't know if that might be causing this or not. So we are off to the doctor this afternoon, and Chris is going to meet us there. Thankfully we put the tick in the freezer, so they told us bring it with. Probably the two aren't related, but his fever being that high scares me a little.

Little Monkey

Here is my first attempt at a sock monkey hat. Turned out pretty well! I didn't even have to change Cole's clothes, he was already wearing his monkey jammies. I love that he is eating the tail of his stuffed monkey.

Noggins and PB&J

Since Easter when Jack got his new bike, he pretty much spends all his time in the garage riding it. Running into the garage door, braking when he means to go forward...just figuring things out. Well, this morning he was out there, I was right inside the door with Cole on the floor and he was going to pretend to go to the gas station to get milk and cheetos. But first he needed to be safe he said. "I need my helmet so I don't hurt my noggin!" is what I hear shouting from the garage. I love it.

Also, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are Jack's newest favorite thing to eat. I think he ate 3 of them yesterday. And of course that is what he wanted for breakfast. Well, no doubt when I opened the bag of bread, there was one good piece of bread and two end pieces. What am I going to do? My picky eater surely won't touch this with a ten foot pole if he sees crust on the whole back side of this sandwich. So, the genius mother I am, puts the peanut butter on the crusty side and hides it in the center. Mission accomplished! Entire sandwich eaten with no complaints.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter my sweet boys! We had a wonderful day yesterday.The sun was shining and all the kids looked amazing in their new Easter outfits. It was so fun to have Kyleigh, Karissa, and Keaton up to share with us. We went to church together in the morning. Chris and Dave did worship at West so our gang headed out there. Kyleigh and Keaton had a great time in the new sunday school classes. Jack, as usual, screamed when I tried to take him, but settled down some when he found out they were doing an Easter egg hunt. Tessa tried the nursery, but with naps not on her side, she didn't last long. The night before I had planned some special treats to make with kids that mimic the resurrection of Jesus. First we made empty tomb treats that involved marshmallows, crescent rolls, butter and sugar/cinnamon. Then we made a torte like treat that also had the same symbolism. The kids really enjoyed doing that, except Jack who wanted to go ride his tricycle. I know Jack probably doesn't quite understand the real meaning of Easter yet, but hopefully he is starting to understand a little bit of it. It's fun to create our own traditions and activities to do at holidays. I hope my boys enjoy doing them for years to come, even when they seem to old to being to them.

Cole was just happy to be home and get changed into comfys and relax. He laid on our bed for about a hour just rolling around and watching "Praise Jesus" as Jack calls it, which is really his Praise Baby dvd.

Surprise! Since Jack's birthday is a week after Christmas, and Christmas isn't exactly the greatest to give a kid a bike, we thought Easter seemed like a good time. He was so excited. At first he couldn't get the hang of it cause he kept wanting to pedal backwards like he can with the tricycle, but once he got going, he loved it. He calls it his motorcycle like grandpa's! I am sure we will have many evenings of riding bikes now.

Easter Eggs!

Yesterday Kyle, Amy and the gang came up for the weekend. We started the day out at Aunt Nancy's with a bunny party. The kids had a great time with seeing each other and Nathan and Evan. They did a pin the tail on the bunny, bunny hunt, and had a yummy lunch. Then they got to blow bubbles, hold Buster the bunny, play out side. Good thing nobody blew away, it was SOOOOO windy! The kids didn't even have to blow on the bubbles, all they did was hold up the wand and the wind blew the bubbles.
After we got home from Nancy's we dyed Easter eggs. Tessa tried to eat the eggs, Jack tried to drink the coloring, and Kyleigh and Karissa made some very pretty eggs. Then it was up to the boys to watch the kiddos as us girls had an afternoon out. Mom, Megan, Amy, Kyleigh, Karissa, and I went to get pedicures, then did a little shopping. It was such a relaxing afternoon! Why don't we do that more often??? Came home and had dinner all together, then did our Easter Egg hunt (since the weather didn't look like it would be very nice today). The kids all had a different color egg that they were to find, and then opened their easter baskets from grandma and grandpa. Cole seemed to enjoy his first Easter festivities. Unfortunately today is rainy and yucky, hopefully it will clear off this afternoon. The kiddos are ready to get outside and play.
